Lexmark Genesis S815 Printer Review
Genesis S815 is one of the newest models from Lexmark and
now costs around $200 with novel design and flash-scan. This scanner is
vertically modeled and works very well and is fast for converting a large collection
of photo prints. The machine is designed to suit any job environment and is
strong and sturdy. It is an all in one printer hence making printing, scanning,
faxing and copying to be done in one unit. It is not designed to print for
aesthetic, but the scanning process uses a CMOS image sensor to take a photo of
every text page or photo. This means it scans faster with less moving parts.
At the center of the control panel sits a 109mm touch screen LCD which is augmented by several illuminated touch buttons for functions such as copy, Cancel and Home. This touch panel works well and uses the same system of Menu items as most Lexmark’s pro range of multifunctional printers. The Lexmark Genesis S815 is believed to be smaller than most of its competitors but when the trays are extended, the size is comparable to the others. The paper tray is its back part and there is no separate tray for scans so one has to remove any plain paper first.
The machine comes with an Abbyy Finereader Sprint OCR as well as drivers for Windows, Linux and OS X. in addition to this, the machine supports Lexmark’s Smart Solution apps that be downloaded from their website straight to the printer, but the printer has to be connected to the internet. The four vizix ink cartridges are plugged into the print head but access is restricted due to the design of Genesis S815. Wireless and USB connections are supported by this printer. Toner cartridges can also be replaced with other toners like the generic toner which is relatively cheaper. Generic toner is economical to use since it leads to low operational costs.
Print speed is relative; the device prints documents at a speed of 7.9ppm and 6.9ppm for black and colored texts respectively. Graphics are printed at the speed of 3.4ppm, but produced at the speed of 4ppm when using the duplexer. Print quality is excellent, with solid text and accurate graphic colors on a plain paper. A copy using the Flash-scan is also closer to original. Photos printed using Genesis S815 also show a natural appearance with good levels of detail. When using the generic toner graphics and photos appear better, since this toner is light and makes prints to be clear. Genesis S815 is thus a perfect printer for any use.

This Lexmark
printer is compatible with the different operating systems like the Window and
the Mac. The presence of USB 2.0 helps to transfer the data fast and even
faster printing.
